I am such a dork - the minute I saw the regression line I was hooked! You also get major props for actually linking to the scientific article - people just don't do that (or even properly cite them) enough.

thanks! I agree that often when journalists summarize scientific papers they don't make it easy to find the original. in this case, PLOS Comp. Biol. is an "open source" journal, so all its material (including referee critiques) is available online for free.
