I visited the North Fork for wine touring about 2 summers ago. If there were one wine that made us say WOW more than any, it was Paumanok's Chenin Blanc. I knew only that the winery had a solid reputation and this unusual varietal so I wasn't sipping with great anticipation. It truly is an awesome wine. Lenn did, however, highly encourage me to stop there though!

Lenn,

Now the secret is out. Thanks for a nice write up. And if someone else wishes to plant the grape that would be great as I think it has a great potential.
The more the merrier.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe the Paumanok Chenin is not only the only one grown on Long Island, but all of New York State. Great write up Lenn, thanks!

Kareem: You're probably right. Honestly, I don't even know of anyone else doing chenin on the east coast...though there is probably someone somewhere in Virginia doing it.

Maybe some of our VA-based readers can chime in.

Ooh looking great I love it !!
